LollybyAageJensenLollybyAageJensenIn these topsy-turvey times I encourage you, when thinking about special gifts for loved ones, to support the artists in our midst who do great work. To wit: Aage Jensen created these charcoal portraits of Mike and me. He lives here in Oklahoma City and you need only send him a photograph and poof! He performs magic. Aage's email is aage@flash.net.  I will be featuring other artists- photographers, painters, poets and other writers- who are also friends. They have taken the bold step of making a living with their art. Like Oprah's Book Club, I hereby establish Lolly's Extraordinary Artist Party. LEAP!

Enjoy this Lenten poem by Kristyn Reid, a LEAP poet:

Wetlands Redemption

Ocean tears weep in at high tide,

filter through acres of duck weed,

cattails and water willows.

This is where the saltwater mafia

launders all its dirty loot.

Here legitimate organisms wash

liquid--what a switch!

It's like God scours us

through the swamp grasses of His grace

and re-births us into the world

as streams of fresh, clear, living water.

If She Knew Then by Lolly Anderson        Coming down the long lane through canopied trees and open fields, the house is a surprise-- big, white, columned--hidden among lush boxwood and majestic trees. The most regal tree of all sprinkles its dainty fan shaped leaves on the front porch, hinting of the refinement within.      Some places in this world pull us into their orb with such power we cannot resist. Or perhaps a need within us is the magnetic force. Maybe it is God leading us toward our purpose.      Such was the mysterious and magical connection I felt to Whittington Plantation from the first time I saw it. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen in my 18 years of life. Its hold on me went beyond beauty or anything else I could rationally identify.
